WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT/FEDERATION MAGAZINE: OCTOBER 2011
FLASHBACK PHOTO
Meet The Rockers
As far as we can tell, this is the earliest known shot of Shawn Michaels as a WWE Superstar, taken backstage at a TV taping in Buffalo, NY, in 1987. The future HBK was 22 years old, and still a year away from his debut in July of ‘88. Looking at this young up-and-comer, who could have predicted he’d one day grow into The Showstopper?

Cody was beyond full of himself, especially when he had this entire Dashing Cody Rhodes gig going on for him, The dashing part definitely got to him, Every goddamn person & their mother knew he was fine as fuck and so did he, his confidence being boosted as-well as his ego was apart of his character & success. He just won a goddamn championship & as his way of celebrating this Friday night? Turning the fuck up.
You & Cody had been best-friends since his early wrestling days within WWE which was the time you became a playboy model, you two were practically made for each other, the both of you being near each other had people questioning their sexuality, You were hot as fuck, he was hot as fuck, and you both knew it, who wouldn’t embrace themselves if they were as hot as you two?
Cody’s house was filled with flashing lights, drunk guests & loud obnoxious music & You knew you were at the right place when your driver started pulling into a neighborhood that sounded like a fucking rave.
You stepped out of the car & immediately Cody stepped out of his house & made his way towards you “The most important guest of the night finally arrives” he wraps his arm around your waist and walked you in while you laughed into his shoulder “Shut-up Cody you’re just saying that!” You & Cody had a strange dynamic that people automatically thought you dated, You two would hold hands everywhere, cling to each other, hell paparazzi found you two getting lunch one time with his hand comfortably against your ass. You two were once labeled as the decades IT couple no matter how many times one of you addressed you were “just friends” which was complete and utter bullshit.
Cody lead you to the kitchen and gave you a cup filled to the brim with alcohol just for you “Here you go doll-face, slow sips ‘kay?” You giggled nodding before kissing his cheek, you took a large sip of your beverage with him and hummed hooking your arms around his shoulder “y’did so good tonight in the ring Cody, I’m so proud of you” he smirked “Yeah? I won just for you gorgeous.” You smiled as you felt his breath fan over your lips, The party was such an obnoxious scene, Everyone was either drunk or bumping into you two about to get drunk or make dumb life choices, for example, You two went into the backyard where someone practically thundercunted themselves off of his roof and into the pool
And somehow SURVIVED? Cody laughed and took a swig out of his beer bottle before turning to you yelling over the music “Now, correct me if I’m wrong but I think we should go off somewhere more quiet, a little more intimate?” You smirked at the Idea & nodded while he set down his drink & lead you off inside his house & to his room.
All of this brought you to the current situation you were in now, getting sat on-top of the dresser in his room while he dug into your neck leaving hickey after hickey and tugged on your hair a bit as he stood in-between your legs, he pulled away and grabbed you by the jaw & slammed his lips against yours & even slipping his tongue last your lips while unbuckling his pants & pulling, “Anyone ever fucking tell you this is better than the goddamn playboy magazines I see you on everyday?” He teased while pulling away to rip off your shirt & bra, you couldn’t blame him rushing the situation since you were practically wet & aching for him
You sighed out as he pinched your nipples & bit at your neck while letting out a cocky laugh “Of course that fuckin’ turns you on, almost everything I do turns you on huh?” You let out a whine in response before nodding your head, You already looks disheveled, hair all sloppy, eyes glazed over, mouth parted, your hands clutched over his shoulders as you dug claw marks into his back while he would fondle your breasts & grin at you “Such a good damn girl for me aren’t you sweetheart?” He slid off his pants & took your panties off before aligning his cock with your entrance and holding onto your face while thrusting himself inside of you & letting out a guttural groan.
“So fucking tight f’me princess” He whimpered into your ear while you shoved your nose into the crook of his neck moaning, He slammed his hand against the wall behind you as he fucked further into you & filled you up to the hilt with his dick alone, You threw your head back letting out a loud moan before looking at him in the eyes “g-gonna fucking cum Cody!” You whimper out while he slapped your clit “It’s just that fucking easy for you isn’t it? All it takes is my cock to be inside of your pretty little pussy for more then 4 minutes & you already wanna cum and make a mess?” He mocked you while he started to pick up the pace.
You squealed and scratched his shoulders throwing your head back moaning ïżœïżœh-Holy shit cody!!” You felt like he was forcing you to your climax given the fact you felt that little feeling in your tummy, your body writhed against him while he continued fucking himself into you & rubbing your clit at a ridiculous place before sticking his tongue in your mouth & kissing you before groaning against your lips & spilling his cum inside of you while you had just hit your climax.
He held you close before picking you up & lying him down on his bed while he went to go grab a wet warm wash cloth but you teased him while wrapping around his blankets “Such a gentleman mr Rhodes” he looked over shrugging and chuckled “Only for the best.” He came back over to you & kissed the top off your head before cleaning you up “I think it’s safe to say you’re mine now sweetheart.” You laughed and tilted your head “Oh yeah? What makes you think that?” He looked at you scoffing “I just fucked you on my dresser shouldn’t that be enough for you?”
You laughed with him as he climbed in the bed with you ignoring the loud music & music surrounding the house & wrapped you around his arms while you fell asleep.
By the time you woke up the next morning you were more than hungover, in-fact, you were positive you were hot by a sledge hammer, You sat up groaning pushing your hair out of your face & huffing while Cody walked in with breakfast “Wakey wakey eggs and bakey” he plopped a plate on your lap while you rubbed your eyes glaring at him “I feel like I got ran over by a semi-truck.” He hummed “Well aren’t you just a little ray of sunshine!” You held up your middle finger & took a sip of the coffee he handed you “fuck you” he shrugged and set your plate of food on the night stand “Geez again? Wow you must REALLY be feeling me huh?”
You groaned out in annoyance and got up out of bed putting your clothes from last night “You’re not very funny codes.” He grinned and handed you a hairbrush “I’m fucking hilarious what are you on about.” You walked off to the bathroom but felt a quick smack on your ass and looked back to Cody walking off with a laugh.
Thank fucking god you did this on a Friday night because you were a hot mess.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Brings BATMAN: DEATH IN THE FAMILY, THE FLINTSTONES: THE COMPLETE SERIES AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN, SCOOBY-DOO! to the New York Comic Con 2020.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) presents three engaging panels – spotlighting the landmark interactive animated short Batman: Death in the Family, The Flintstones: The Complete Series remastered for Blu-rayℱ, and the all-new Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! – to New York Comic Con for the annual event’s new virtual streaming edition October 8-11, 2020. The Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! presentation will be the first-ever Con appearance featuring all four core voices of Mystery Inc. together on the same panel: Frank Welker (Fred & Scooby-Doo), Grey Griffin (Daphne), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and Kate Micucci (Velma). WBHE panels will spotlight never-before-seen footage, discussions with filmmakers, and showrunners, artists and actors. All three panels will be live-streamed through NYCC’s partnership with YouTube, and specific panel links will be found via the NYCC website at www.newyorkcomiccon.com.
Here’s a breakdown of the panels – and confirmed talent – appearing at New York Comic Con:
Saturday, October 10 1:15pm PT/4:15pm ET – BATMAN: DEATH IN THE FAMILY – AN INTERACTIVE TALE Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s unveils its first-ever interactive film presentation with Batman: Death in the Family in a fascinating New York Comic Con panel. As the anchor of an anthology of 2019-2020 animated shorts, Batman: Death in the Family is based on the 1988 landmark DC event where fans voted by telephone to determine the story’s ending, and is organically grown out of the 2010 DC Universe Movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. In this new version, the animated short is an interactive storytelling presentation with numerous “branches,” allowing the viewer multiple options from which to choose and alter the path of the core characters (Batman, Robin, Joker, Red Hood and more). Join producer/director/writer Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Young Justice), actors Bruce Greenwood (The Resident, Star Trek, iRobot), Vincent Martella (Phineas and Ferb, Everybody Hates Chris) and Zehra Fazal (Young Justice), and moderator Tiffany Smith (DC Daily) for an in-depth panel discussion about this innovative film. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, DC Showcase – Batman: Death in the Family arrives from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-ray TM Combo Pack and Digital starting October 13.
Sunday, October 11 8:40am PT/11:40am ET – HAPPY HALLOWEEN, SCOOBY-DOO! Be part of the first-ever convention panel to feature the four core voices of the Scooby-Doo franchise as they chat about their all-new film, Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! – and then show you the first eight minutes of the movie! Scooby-Doo and Shaggy’s favorite holiday is upon us! With fake monsters and candy galore, Halloween is heaven for these hungry foodies going door-to-door. But this year, their sweet holiday turns sour when the neighborhood pumpkin patch is infected by toxic ooze, creating high-flying jack-o-lanterns, and a king-sized pumpkin leader squashing everything in its path. It’s up to Scooby-Doo and the gang as they team up with their pals, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Bill Nye the Science Guy, to solve this mystery of gigantic proportions and save Crystal Cove! Enjoy a fun panel discussion amongst voiceover legend Frank Welker (The Transformers), in his 50th year voicing Fred Jones and 18 th year voicing Scooby-Doo; Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls films) in her 20 th year as Daphne Blake; Matthew Lillard (Twin Peaks, Bosch, Good Girls) celebrating his 18 th year as Shaggy Rogers; Kate Micucci (Unikitty!) in her fifth year as Velma Dinkley; Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), director/producer/writer Maxwell Atoms (Fish Hooks, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) and moderator Damian Holbrook (TV Guide Magazine senior writer). Then stay for a special sneak peek at the first eight minutes of the film. Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! arrives on DVD and Digital HD starting October 6.
Sunday, October 11 9:30am PT/12:30pm ET – THE FLINTSTONES TAKE NEW YORK! Celebrate the 60 th anniversary of the first animated family of primetime television – The Flintstones – with an entertaining panel at New York Comic Con. Join panelists director/producer Tony Cervone (SCOOB!, The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown!); actors Jeff Bergman (Our Cartoon President, Looney Tunes Cartoons), Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls, Scooby-Doo franchise) and Eric Bauza (Looney Tunes Cartoons, UniKitty!), the voices of Fred Flintstone, Betty Rubble and Bam-Bam & Dino, respectively; animation historian & author Jerry Beck and moderator Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, Avengers: Endgame) as they discuss the landmark series, which has been fully- remastered for Blu-ray release by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The collectible box set includes all 166 episodes and two Flintstones feature-length animated films. The Flintstones: The CompleteSeries will be available to own on Digital HD starting October 6, and on Blu-ray on October 27.

Hola, hablas espanol? Un poco. Haha most of my Spanish is based off of context clues from similar words and phrases that we have in Filipino, and the very basic lessons I’ve gotten from Duolingo if that even counts, so I most likely would not survive a conversation. Overall though, I can read Spanish much more quickly and better than I can listen to/speak it. Music is playing right now, isn't it? What song? No but for some reason I have the OST of one of the Mario Kart 8 tracks playing in my head. Do you use AIM? What's your screen name? No, I didn’t really catch that era anymore. How many cell phones have you gone through in your life? I had two of the classic Nokia phones, a flip phone, a hand-me-down from my dad, two iPhone 5S, and my current iPhone 8 so that makes it a total of seven. Do you have a little sister? What's her name? Yeah. We’ve always called her Nina at home but for some reason she chose to go with her full first name in school and everywhere else, so it’s always a source of confusion when her friends and I are in the same room and we call her different names hahaha.
Who was the last person you screamed at? Why were you screaming? I think my mom? I was filming my dad doing one of the Tiktok dances (yep, my parents are into Tiktok lmaooooo) but my mom blocked the camera at some point so I jokingly yelled at her to go away. Can you crack your joints? Which ones? Just my fingers, which is all I ever feel like cracking anyway. What's your favorite name for a guy? And a girl? I repeat my fave girls’ names too much on this damn site, y’all know at least one of them by now. I don’t really think of boys’ names but I suppose my current favorite is Miguel. Are you good at answering trick questions? I don’t really encounter them a lot so I wouldn’t know. Do you use Myspace or Facebook? Or both? I don’t use Myspace/was never addicted to it the way I am to like Twitter now. I do use Facebook for various reasons – to stay connected to family, to be updated with announcements from school, to communicate for work, and to share memes hahahaha. Do you need spellcheck in order to spell things correctly? Not really. Sometimes I’ll Google a word before typing it out to be 100% sure but it’s only usually for words that are commonly misspelled, like ‘occasionally.’ Do you do too many surveys? How many have you done today? I don’t know if taking them daily counts as taking them too much but to be fair I only take one to three surveys a day. I definitely take much fewer surveys than I did, like, seven years ago when I would fill out ten a day. Have you ever changed yourself to impress someone? Who? I remember trying to like bands like The Summer Set, You Me At Six, The Maine, We Came As Romans, This Century, etc in Grade 6 because all the cooler, hipster kids liked them. UGH thinking about how I acted during that period is so cringe because I never even liked any of the fucking music but I tried so hard to, lmao. There were only three bands I ended up genuinely enjoying: All Time Low, Sleeping With Sirens, and We Are the In Crowd. After that I stopped paying attention to what people liked. Who was the last person you gave up on? Why did you give up on them? I think it was Macy. She has changed a lot and it’s obvious we are not as close as before and when we do talk it’s mostly awkward small talk. I don’t know what happened along the way, but I just hope she’s happy. What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer? I usually have stuff printed in school because with my dad not being home most of the time, my mom and brother never printing anything, and my sister living in a dorm, it doesn’t seem worth it to keep buying ink just for me. The last thing I printed was a news article I needed to turn in for business writing class. What's your favorite number? Is there any reason that's your favorite? 4. I honestly liked it initially because it’s Beyoncé’s favorite number so I just stuck with that answer for the longest time haha. What kind of shampoo do you use? Does it smell amazing? It’s one of the Dove shampoos. It’s nothing life-changing but seeing as it’s a hair care product, it of course smells nice and decent.   Do you go to concerts? What was the last one you attended? Not a lot. I save my attendance for my absolute favorites which means that so far I’ve been to two Paramore shows and one One Direction show. I make sure they’re bigger, more mainstream acts that don’t happen in the Philippines a lot because it’s my dad who pays, and I wanna make sure what I’m asking him to treat me to is gonna be a super super worth it experience, if that makes sense. Have you ever had a conversation with someone through bulletins? I don’t think so. Do you shop online? With your own credit card, or someone else's? I have food delivered from online but I barely buy other stuff online. I use cash on delivery since I don’t own any kind of card. Who's your best friend? How long have you known each other? I’ve known Angela for 15 years and Gab for 9. Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend? Why did you break up? She freaked out and thought we were rushing too much at 17, which she was right about. Have you ever gotten your nails done? Or do you get them done regularly? Never but Gabie keeps telling me that we should have a nail day hahahaha. Idk, I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of someone working on my fingers or toes or any part of my body. Have you been outside yet today? What were you doing? Sure. I stepped out into our backyard to walk my dog for a few minutes in the afternoon; in the evening my family and I had dinner on our rooftop which is technically a part of outside. Tell me about the last thing that made you laugh until it hurt. It was one of the more recent segments from a Korean reality show I watch. It’s not gonna be funny if I narrate it lmao but suffice it to say it’s a show about kids and their dads, and the kid that I watched in particular is exceptionally smart for his age and says a lot of witty things. One of the things he said was bullseye for me and I ended up nearly screaming in laughter at 3 AM. When was the last time you got a new bed? Is your bed comfy? 2008. We never changed my bed from when we first moved here. Yes, I’d say it is. What kind of games did you play on the playground when you were younger? I loved playing at the sandbox because I found the texture really fun to touch and play with; I also liked the swing and the trapeze bars.
Have you ever buried a time capsule with a friend? Did you dig it up yet? Nope. I find them very interesting though. Tell me one thing you'd like to change in 2010. There's gotta be something. That was a whole-ass decade ago, holy shit. I don’t remember what I sought for 2010 back in 2009 but I imagine one of them is for me to find a friend to be with because it was in 2010 that two of my closest friends, Andi and Angel, both migrated to New Zealand and Canada. Spoiler alert: I didn’t, and I was sad the entire year. Do you have or want any tattoos? Of what? Yes. The only design I can think of right now is my dog’s pawprint. Do you remember the first time you ever drove a car? Who were you with? Yeah, it was in my parents’ old Mitsubishi Lancer. I was with my mom and I drove too close to curbs/walls the entire time haha. Do any of your friends drink excess amounts of alcohol? Do you? JM drank a lot at the start of the quarantine to the point that I started to get worried, but I think he’s lessened his intake in the last few weeks. Other than him I don’t know anyone with a drinking problem. I certainly don’t have one. What color is your favorite hoodie? When did you get it? Hoodies aren’t really my thing so I don’t have a favorite one. How many pairs of shoes do you have? Are they under your bed? Around 10-15 would be a safe guess. They’re in a shoe rack in a bodega-like space underneath our stairs. What exactly is under your bed? Is it a mess? Not a mess. I just have my old WWE magazines and other various magazines that I collected as a teenager with BeyoncĂ© and Kristen Stewart on the cover stored in two large containers. Have you ever been in handcuffs? Why, exactly? Not by the police, lol byeeeeeeeeeeee What's your favorite thing to do when drunk? Would you do this sober? I join games a lot more and I’m generally friendlier and louder. I can be the first two when I’m sober, just a lot more reserved. When was the last time you bled? What happened? I caught a mosquito sucking blood off of my knee a week ago. Have you ever had to be put to sleep at a hospital? Why? Nope. Do you actually have a calendar on your wall? What are the pictures of? I do not. When are you planning on moving out of your parents' house? In 2-3 years when I’ve saved enough, probably. I’m itching to do it as soon as I can though. Tell me about your day today. :) It was my parents’ 23rd wedding anniversary so we had a bigger brunch that consisted of pancit Malabon, several sticks of barbecue, sisig, and various kakanin to celebrate. The afternoon was uneventful and I just spent most of it brushing up on my Spanish lessons hah, then I had a quick siesta; then for dinner we had burgers from a local place that recently opened again while the quarantine is ongoing. Are you a fan of dogs? Do you have any pets? I LOVE dogs, except for chihuahuas which I genuinely am unable to start liking because of (most of) their personalities. I will definitely care for one if I see them starving at a road but ugh idk, I just like all other dogs a lot more. And I know there are cuddly and behaved chihuahuas out there but I’ve simply seen more feisty ones and since then it’s been hard to have my mind changed about them. Who was the last person in your family to graduate high school? Was it you? My sister graduated in 2018. Have you ever been on a cruise? How many? Where did they go? Yeah, just once, for my 18th birthday. I went to China, Japan, and South Korea.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated: Rookies of the Year
It’s Friday night and for some reason I got curious about the winners of PWI’s rookie of the year award, and whether the venerable wrestling magazine had a track record of being able to spot young talent that would go on to make a lasting contribution to the business. The answer: Kind of!
1972: Mike Graham: solid midcarder, son of a famous wrestler/promoter, eventually a WWE agent
1973: Bob Orton Jr. / Tony Garea (tie): Orton was a solid midcarder and the son of a famous wrestler (and eventually the father of a yet-more famous wrestler); Garea was a solid midcarder who eventually became a WWE agent. Are we detecting a pattern?
1974: Larry Zbysko: Solid upper midcard guy who would have a very hot feud with mentor Bruno Sammartino.
1975: Ric Flair: This was a solid choice
1976: Bob Backlund: Another good choice!
1977: Ricky Steamboat: They were really hitting their stride at this point.
1978: Tommy Rich: He would burn brightly but briefly. This was not a bad choice for a Rookie of the Year.
1979: Sweet Brown Sugar: He’d go onto fame in the WWF as Koko B. Ware, where he was a ridiculous joke wrestler. In the territories, though, he was a bruiser who seemed like he could have been a near-the-top guy
1980: Terry Taylor: We return to the template of the solid midcarder who eventually became a WWE agent
1981: David Sammartino: lol
1982: Brad Armstrong: A great “should have been” midcarder who had a lot of talent but was saddled with a series of terrible gimmicks. Another demonstration of PWI’s love for young wrestlers from established grappling families.
1983: Angelo Mosca Jr.: This is even more egregious than David Sammartino. Who the hell remembers Angelo Mosca’s son? The runners-up were King Kong Bundy and Arn Anderson. Injustice.
1984: Mike Von Erich: OH COME ON
1985: Nord the Barbarian: This is like the inverse of their late ‘70s run of picking hugely consequential stars
1986: Lex Luger: The obvious choice that year, although Sting was a runner-up (and so was Tom Magee, shades of Wrestling Obsessive Twitter from 2019)
1987: Owen Hart: Yes
1988: Madusa Miceli: Bold choice! Not a bad one. She never got the opportunities in the US that she should have, but that’s hardly her fault.
1989: The Destruction Crew (Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom): Haha, hoo boy. From the AWA’s circling-the-drain phase, this was Verne’s attempt to replace the departed Road Warriors. It was a huge success, and that’s why the AWA is still on top today!
1990: Steve Austin: This is a pretty impressive pick, honestly. He hadn’t really done anything by this point (he wouldn’t even join WCW until 1991), but something about him must have stood out. It probably helped that the runners-up were El Gigante, Brad Anderson, and Chris Chavis. Not a deep year!
1991: Johnny B. Badd: A less impressive pick.
1992: Erik Watts: Yeah, fuck off
1993: Vampire Warrior: YES! YES! GANGREL ABSOLUTELY WHIPS ASS! IT WAS TRUE EVEN THEN!
1994: 911: I can’t believe this. I’m literally laughing out loud. 911!
1995: Alex Wright: Not a bad choice in ‘95. He had a lot of promise but eventually got trapped in a downward spiral of bad WCW gimmickry
1996: The Giant: Solid choice. He went on to have a reasonably distinguished career. Rocky Maivia was a runner-up that year, which seems crazy in retrospect, but at the time it was the right call. It seems beyond ridiculous that the Trailblazers drafted Sam Bowie ahead of Michael Jordan (and Charles Barkley and John Stockton), but nobody knew Bowie had bad knees at the time or that MJ would be a player who redefined the game.
1997: Prince Iaukea: Brakkus was a runner-up. Not a strong rookie class.
1998: Goldberg: No choice more obvious
1999: Shane McMahon: [pukes into a trashcan]
2000: Kurt Angle: A choice as obvious as 1998â€Čs selection of Goldberg
2001: Randy Orton: A rookie class that also included Lesnar and Cena. Stacked! Like the aforementioned 1984 NBA draft. Cena is the obvious choice in hindsight, but Orton’s no slouch. He’s the Hakeem Olajuwon figure here.
2002: Maven: Every runner up was also a Tough Enough cast member. Give me a break.
2003: Zach Gowen: Eh, OK
2004: Monty Brown: I can see what they were thinking, but: no.
2005: Bobby Lashley: Sure, fine, whatever
2006: The Boogeyman: Cody Rhodes was a runner up. This is not an “even in hindsight” thing, he was obviously better than gimmick-only Boogeyman in 2006
2007: Hornswoggle: I like Indie Swoggle a lot, but I’m dubious that there was no rookie wrestler better in 2007. This is the problem with being so WWE-centric.
2008: Curtis Axel: PWI sure loves wrestling families
2009: Mike Sydal: Not to be confused with his brother Matt
2010: David Otunga: First runner-up: Tamina. What a year.
2011: Ace Hawkins: In a Sam Bowie/MJ moment, Roman Reigns was the second runner-up
2012: Veda Scott: Kind of a sharp left turn here
2013: Tim Zbyzsko: I confess I don’t know who this is
2014: Charlotte: Good choice! Also a scion of a wrestling family
2015: Moose: If he eventually becomes a WWE agent, he will repeat the pattern
2016: Nia Jax: Runners-up included Tessa Blanchard and Braun Strowman!
2017: Otis Dozovic: Huh.
2018: Ronday Rousey: This was also an obvious choice if we’re being honest.

What can I do for you?
Tumblr media
Here, friends, is my super power:
I can create an entire book — a good one — quickly, with very little help.
You want a book with your name on it. I can make that happen.
Maybe you typed up a draft, and you’re not sure where to go next.
I can take it from here.
And anything smaller than that will be cheaper and faster.
Get on the schedule while you can.
Following are more details about me and my work.
Tumblr media
Follow are links to different things D.X. Ferris makes & does.
I am D.X. Ferris.
I grew up obsessed with music and reading. I went to school for writing. At the time, I thought I couldn’t create things. I didn’t know it yet, but I was wrong. I tried to quit. Writing wouldn’t let me. It kept pulling me back in.
Once I figured out how to do what I wanted to do, I made up for lost time. Now I’ve covered a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction for Rolling Stone. I endured a career-ending injury. I’ve been to the Pentagon on business. I’ve written books with & about some of my iconic heroes. Communication is my business, and business is good.
I do a lot of different things.
I am an award-winning writer, editor, manager, publisher, teacher, speaker, cartoonist, maker, co-author, ghost writer, and overall communications professional. To me, those various & sundry processes are all part of the same sphere — and here’s the common thread: Communication is the art of organizing information. That, friend, is what I do. I can do it for you. And we can make some money together.
I have written/co-written nine books. My personal record is four new books in 16 months.
I cut my teeth as a rock & roll journalist. Then I successfully transitioned to hard news. Lately, I’ve been creating motivational literature and self-help books. I write very effective press releases & promo material. I write & storyboard short videos. I’m writer for a documentary I can’t talk about yet.
I get around. I teach college. My CV includes work for dozens of publications, including Rolling Stone and Alternative Press (America’s two top rock & culture magazines). I’ve also written for leading outlets such as The A.V. Club and Decibel. I write and stage communication seminars.
I have been to the Pentagon and National Air & Space Museum on business. I have been backstage at the Vans Warped Tour on business. My body of work includes book-length oral histories.
I have collaborated with certified Grand Masters, civilians, and high-profile musical & Hollywood creative types. I have had Almost Famous moments on the side of the stage at European festivals. I wake up so early it hurts. I make money for my partners.
I am a 33 1/3 author. An Ohio Society of Professional Journalists Reporter of the Year. And a third-degree black belt (in Taekwondo). Also a 32° two-time WM/PM.
Let’s do some good work — and then let’s do some good with what comes from it.

Wrote the official book with Donnie Iris and the Cruisers For my money, Donnie Iris & the Cruisers are the best-kept secret from 80s rock radio. That had not one, but seven hot 100 hits. The bandleader/songer penned an enduring disco hit. AND he worked with three Rock Hall of Fame artists. The band have a continuous near-40-year run. During this epic tale, they work with a young Trent Reznor, Kiss, Breathless, Cinderella, Sam Kinison, Gamble & Huff, the Jaggerz, Wolfman Jack, and bunch of others. The book is a painstakingly researched oral history that plays like a mix of the four-hour Tom Petty documentary, the movie That Thing You Do!, and the American Hardcore book. Coffee-table book, 464 pages, 102 images, 308 endnotes, 8.5x11″.
Wrote two books about thrash-metal icons Slayer
One is part of 33 1/3, the vanguard series of music-related writing.
One is an exhaustively researched full-length biography featuring 33 images and over 400 endnotes.

Worked for Rolling Stone, the no. 1 music & culture magazine ever.
I’ve been writing for Alternative Press — America’s no. 2 music magazine — off & on since 2002. More recent pieces are here. Older material is here.
Wrote for alternative newsweekly Cleveland Scene, in various capacities, for 8 years. Won numerous awards for news reporting, business reporting, arts reporting, commentary, feature writing, personality profiling, and sports reporting. I think this piece about Cleveland’s LeBron James banner won me the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists’ Best Reporter award: Literally the entire city was looking at an iconic, massive piece of public art/advertising — and I was the one person who looked behind the scenes. For alt-weekly Cleveland Scene.

For Rolling Stone, I interviewed a band and created unofficial liner notes for a classic album:

This kind of piece is a specialty. For Alternative Press, I interviewed an infamous punk musician about his friendship with the late, great Anthony Bourdain. I supplied many conversation prompts, transcribed it, then edited his answers into one continuous narrative, while I remained invisible in the piece. If it looks like I didn’t do much, then that was the entire point.

I visit a business, describe the experience, and research how a controversial industry works. For Cleveland Scene.

While the rest of the rock-journalism world were writing SOPA stories (Summarizing Other People’s Articles) about a developing story, I dug deep, excavated some court records, and wrote an informed summary. For Metal Sucks — for my money, the best metal news & views site.

Cover story/feature profile of the president of a local university — and how his work has helped shape the city. It’s pretty whitebread and dry, but I can work in that style when I’m not writing about raging hellions. For Cleveland Magazine, the city’s upstanding guide to what’s happening and who’s doing it.

WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE: June 2012
THEN
AND
NOW
PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARIUS BUGGE
WWE Magazine tracked down some vintage photos of our veteran Superstars and Divas. While their ring gear has changed and their haircuts are certainly more modern, how different is the person holding that picture today?
CHRISTIAN
The most important thing on your mind during that time

“I was just new to the company and coming in, so the most important thing on my mind was trying to establish myself, trying to make my mark. I always kind of viewed getting to WWE as my ultimate goal, but getting here and staying here were two completely different things. Having longevity and being able to stay relevant for a long time was truly important to me. I always had confidence in myself, but I had to make sure to take advantage of every opportunity and also to create opportunities of my own.”
How different is Christian now from the person in that photo

“I’m a little wiser, obviously. And I had a little more spring in my step back then. I use my head more now, and I can pace myself better than I used to. Back then, everything was a thousand miles an hour to me.”
Conversely, how similar is Christian today

“I still have the same drive as I did that first day. I still walk through those doors each and every day with a chip on my shoulder because I had to prove that I am the best.”
Christian then vs. Christian now. And the winner is

“Christian now, without a doubt. I’m smarter. And I'm a little more sly. I just think I'm better at this age than I was back then, and that comes from experience. But if you were to ask that guy in the photo, he was pretty cocky, so he would probably tell you that he would win
 but he wouldn't.”
The current whereabouts of the outfit in this photo

“I still own this one. I think it’s packed away in a plastic container at home. I don’t have it marked or hanging up or anything, although I know exactly where it is.”

From The Sidelines To The Squared Circle: Wrestlers Who Were Once Cheerleaders
Hey Everyone! I am super excited about this article! I used to be an All Star Cheerleader and I wanted to do something fun involving cheerleading and wrestling . This article will be about wrestlers who were once cheerleaders.
Tumblr media
Stacy Kiebler - The WWE Hall of Famer was once a cheerleader for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Kiebler made the team when she was only 18 years old . Her cheer and dance experience would lead her to audition for the Nitro Girls , the dance troupe that would entertain the live crowds of WCW fans during TV commercial breaks. Her name for the group would be , Skye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmella - Before she began her career in the WWE , Carmella was once a cheerleader for the NFL’s New England Patriots and in the NBA as a Lakers Girl for the Los Angeles Lakers. She cheered for the Lakers in 2011 and was a Patriots Cheerleader from 2007-2010. She was signed to WWE in 2013 and made her NXT Debut in 2014. She is the inaugural and second Ms. Money In The Bank , winner of the second Wrestlemania’s Women’s Battle Royal, former cast member of Total Divas , 1x Smackdown Women’s Champion and 1x Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Queen Zelina ( Zelina Vega ).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alexa Bliss- Little Miss Bliss was a former high school and All Star Cheerleader . She was even the cover girl for American Cheerleader Magazine in 2008. She even had her own article. Bliss was signed to WWE in 2013 and made her NXT debut the same year. She went to become a 3x RAW Women’s Champion, 2x Smackdown Women’s Champion, 3x Women’s Tag Team Champion ( 2 with Nikki Cross and 1 with Asuka ) , 2018 Women’s Money In The Bank Winner , 1x 24/7 Champion, and the 2nd Women’s Triple Crown Champion in WWE, with Bayley being the first.
Tumblr media
Julia Hart - Julia was a two time cheerleading champion before she became a professional wrestler. She was signed to AEW in 2021 where she would become a manager to The Varsity Blondes ( Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr ( Lexis King )). She would have a cheerleader gimmick before turning Heel on the Blondes after having mist sprayed into her eyes by Malakai Black. She joined the House of Black in 2022 and went on to become the youngest TBS Champion at 22 years old.
Tumblr media
Maxxine Dupri - Maxxine Dupri was a Cheerleader for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and a Dancer for the NBA’s Phoenix Suns. She would attend a WWE tryout in 2021 and was signed the same year. In 2022, she made her NXT debut as a manager/valet alongside Robert Stone for Von Wagner. She would make her main roster debut the same year as the kayfabe younger sister of Max Dupri ( LA Knight) , and the ‘ Director of Talent ’ for the Heel stable , the Maximum Male Models. She would join Alpha Academy and made her in ring debut the same year after performing an Arm Drag on the valet of The Viking Raiders , Valhalla ( Sarah Logan).
Tumblr media
Rebel - Tanea Brooks joined the Dallas Cowboys Cheeleaders at the age of 18 years old after being a member of dance team at the University of Tulsa , where she was student . She was also in a dance troupe alongside Christy Hemme. She was signed to TNA/Impact Wrestling in 2013 , making her in ring debut in 2014. She also managed The Dollhouse ( Marti Belle and Jade/Mia Yim/Michin). She was signed to AEW as a makeup artist in 2019 before making her TV debut alongside Britt Baker.
My Final Thoughts:
This was a fun article to do. As a former cheerleader myself , this was interesting to reasearch. I’m thinking of adding a Part 2 to this article.
Love You All,
-Kay

Triple H [September 2010]
I love this awesome shot of Triple H, decorated by the fine folks at WWE Magazine. 2010 was a rough year for “The Game”, with D-Generation X kicking the year off by losing the WWE Unified Tag Team Championships to ShoMiz (The Miz and The Big Show). In April, H’s partner Shawn Michaels retired after losing a match to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI. The following night, as Michaels was retiring, he was attacked by Sheamus, who Triple H would face at Extreme Rules. Triple H would lose that match and would take most of the rest of the year off, other than the WWE Fan Appreciation Night and the Tribute To The Troops special.
